Indian Misadventures and CPEC
By Aurangzeb Alamgir
CPEC is the one of the largest commercial project in South Asia. The project has equal value of the foreign direct invest in Pakistan since 1970. Along with CPEC is the biggest Chinese overseas investment. CPEC is the not only the road and rail project but is a corridor with many economic zones port building and pipeline projects. The scale of the initiative is demonstration of trust geostrategic and geo¬ economics cooperation between Islamabad and Beijing. CPEC serves multiple goals of the two countries. For China the initiative seeks to open a new trading route to Indian Ocean. And it will allow china to bypass the main chock points on Indo-Pacific sea lanes of communications. While for Pakistan CPEC provides much needed foreign investment and all the economic opportunities and perks that comes with it. CPEC will help to stimulate economic growth in Pakistan and will improve the living conditions in its underdeveloped parts of the country especially Baluchistan. The energy projects: under CPEC will fulfill the energy needs of Pakistan. Currently there is the shortage aground 7000 MW and under CPEC Pakistan has plan to overcome this shortage which will help to climb 3% additional economic growth.
Without the shadow of doubt, CPEC is the project with great advantages not only for Pakistan and China but also for the whole region. However there are some hostile elements in the region which want to destabilize the region and are against the prosper future of the entire region. India under Modi Sarkar is the real threat for developmental projects like CPEC. If we conduct some data mining we will be able to find lot of evidence that India is indulged in committing the act of sabotage against developmental projects in the region generally and against CPEC especially. In this regard Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav’s confessions are eye opening that how India plans to destabilize Pakistan and the developmental projects. Recent Indian misadventures indicate that India is the traditional foe of Pakistan which cannot tolerate a prosperous and peaceful Pakistan. And to fulfill its nefarious designs it can go beyond any limitations and can conduct overt and covert activities against Pakistan.
Under the recent scenario India should conduct a cost and benefit analysis that how much it can pay for any offensive action. Will it feasible for India to execute a misadventure with a neighboring state having nukes? Defiantly not! And perhaps that is the reason that today sensible Indians are raising voices against Modi Sarkar. They are aware of the fact that War between Pakistan and India will not be fruitful for the region. On Pakistani side civil and military and masses are fully aware of this fact and have opinion that the war is not the solution and the both countries have to come on negotiation table to settle down all outstanding Issues.
South Asia poor region after Africa and peace and prosperity IS the dire need of hour to uplift masses. For this purpose all nations in the region have to sit together and should find the way forward. Miscalculations and misadventures are not viable at any cost. Pakistani leadership is committed to deal with regional peace and stability and that is the reason that Pakistan is playing a major role in the Afghan peace process. Similarly, with Iran, Pakistan is thinking to open new avenues and corridors for further cooperation and coordination. And on recent summit of OIC Pak-Iran foreign ministers met and agreed to enhance cooperation and coordination in counter terrorism and in economic domain. For development and growth Pakistan invited regional and extra regional players including India to join CPEC because Pakistan has the vision that economic coordination is the key for peace and prosperity. And now it is the time to uplift masses and invest on human development sector.
